About Amy:

I am delighted to work with scholars, of all ages and nationalities, to help them achieve their educational and professional goals. I will come to the student at their current level, help the person master the material, develop specific study skills, and also gain confidence in their own ability to overcome adversity and excel.

I majored in Biology and English at Rice University in Houston, and completed most of the coursework for a Psychology major as well. I have an insatiable curiosity and am interested in many aresa. It was in college that I learned to write very well, and to make it look easy.

My MBA is from the University of michigan, with an emphasis in Marketing, advanced Accounting, and "Entrepreneurship." I was a founding board member of the Michigan Biotechnology Association (now MichBIO), and did independent consulting with both startups and investors in biotechnology.

My PhD was in Structural Biology of proteins, specifically x-ray crystallography of monoclonal antibodies directed against single-stranded DNA. This was basic research, with potential application to treatment of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, the corresponding human autoimmune disorder. I have been a research-track faculty member at the University of Michigan (in the Department of Biological Chemistry), and a research administrator and division administrator in UM INternal Medicine and Pediatrics. I have a scientific writing and editing company, through which I help young scientists, Principal Investigators and labs accomplish their goals.

I am currently a seasonal tax preparer, RTRP pending, and working toward being an Enrolled Agent, able to argue before Tax Court. I also spend considerable time volunteering with a favorite non-profit organization. I have enjoyed my journey and I love to learn and to teach. I look forward to meeting you!
